Week 11 – ASUAF Election Week! Let’s Go

Five weeks. Just five weeks until the finish line. You’re closer than you think – and that’s a big deal.

First things first: keep your momentum going. Seriously – you’ve been putting in the work, and it shows. And if this past weekend in the Interior of Alaska didn’t give you a boost, I don’t know what will. Walking around Troth Yeddha’ lately feels like stepping into a whole new season – sunshine, people out enjoying the long-lost sun. Spring is officially making its entrance and with it come more energy, more light and yes, more distractions.

Stay engaged. These next few weeks are where it all comes together. The days are getting brighter, your motivation might get pulled in a hundred directions – but this is your moment to stay focused and finish strong. You’ve come too far to wander from the trail now. You’ve got this.

Next up: Future you is calling, time to register!

Priority registration for summer and fall opened yesterday, Monday, March 23, for degree-seeking students. The earlier you register, the better your schedule – and the sooner you can relax knowing it’s all set.

But before you do that, book time with your advisor. Think of them as your academic GPS – they’ll help you:

  • Stay on track for graduation

  • Choose classes that match your goals

  • Navigate holds, prerequisites, and scheduling hiccups

  • Even point you toward internships or research opportunities

Bottom line: meeting with your advisor = smarter choices, less stress.

And don’t forget – it’s ASUAF Election Week!Ìý
Your voice matters here. A lot.

Elections run through March 28 at 12:55 p.m., and voting is – quick, easy, and impactful. These are the students who will help shape your campus experience, so take a few minutes to get involved.

So here’s the game plan:

  • Keep the pace

  • Stay focused (even when the sun is calling your name)

  • Meet with your advisor

  • Register early

  • Vote in the ASUAF elections

You’re in the final stretch now. The end is in sight, and you’re doing better than you think. Keep pushing – you’re almost there.

Have an amazing Week 11. And as always, if you have ideas on how we can make things even better, I’d love to hear them.obguthrie@alaska.edu.
