Online RCR training launching in Canvas

March 27, 2026

The Office of Research Integrity is offering Responsible Conduct of Research training online through Canvas. This training incorporates foundational instruction that can be completed independently and at the participant鈥檚 own pace, while aligning with federal expectations for RCR education, including opportunities for ongoing engagement and discussion where applicable.

This program is designed to meet federal requirements outlined by the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health for RCR instruction. In accordance with these requirements, RCR training is required for undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and other senior personnel supported by NSF awards. Additionally, NIH-funded programs require RCR training for all participants, including BLaST Mentors, Scholars, Undergraduate Research Experiences, and other individuals supported through NIH-funded projects.

The RCR training offered through ORI is open to all UAF-, UAS-, and Ilisagvik-affiliated individuals, including faculty, graduate students, staff, and undergraduate students.

The training consists of two required components:

  • Part One: Completion of an online CITI Responsible Conduct of Research training module. To register for the CITI training, please .
  • Part Two: Completion of the RCR Canvas course.

Participants must complete both parts to receive an RCR certificate of completion.

Important for NIH-funded participants:

If you are receiving NIH funding, please note that this virtual course alone does not fully meet NIH requirements. You will also be required to complete an additional one-hour, in-person RCR training session.
