UA to host 49-hour �Ļ�ӰԺ Day event on Nov. 9-10

The University of Alaska’s three universities will host UA �Ļ�ӰԺ Day,  an online fundraising event, on Nov. 9-10. During the "49 Hours for Alaska" event everyone is encouraged to give to the areas of UAA, UAF, and UAS that are most meaningful to them. Donations of all amounts are welcome.

The UA �Ļ�ӰԺ Day tradition, which successfully launched in fall of 2020, is a collaborative effort between the University of Alaska Foundation and the three universities in �Ļ�ӰԺ, Anchorage and Southeast. The 49-hour event spotlights the impact of the university, and encourages philanthropic support of students, academic and training programs, research and more for Alaska.

“UA �Ļ�ӰԺ Day provides our respective communities with a wonderful opportunity to support the university program of their choice,” said Tod Burnett, president of the University of Alaska Foundation. “Philanthropic contributions to our three universities help students succeed and attain their dreams, while educating and training Alaska’s workforce, furthering critical state and global research, and bolstering academic and vocational programs.”

The UA �Ļ�ӰԺ Day website, , has tools to help participants easily share the event through digital and social media channels. The website will track not only overall dollars and donors generated during UA �Ļ�ӰԺ Day, but also gifts to schools and colleges, departments, programs and designated funds.

Supporters are encouraged to share their support for the university and UA �Ļ�ӰԺ Day via their social media channels using the #49HoursforAlaska hashtag. Donors can spread the word about the event and share their personal stories about why they give to the university.

Last year, participation in UA �Ļ�ӰԺ Day was worldwide, raising more than $670,000 from more than 1,100 donors from 49 states and 10 countries. The global outpouring of support demonstrated the reach that the UA system has through its alumni, faculty, staff, donors and friends. 

The universities are humbled by the steadfast support made by generous donors, and truly appreciate the donors that have already stepped forward once again to support "49 Hours for Alaska." 

On Nov. 9-10, participation in giving events and meeting giving challenges will unlock generous from many university and community members.
