Department of Art
Every year the College of Liberal Arts asks each department to select their outstanding student(s) for that year- students who possess the passion and creativity for new discoveries and scholarship, students who demonstrate independence of thought and action in the pursuit of knowledge, and students who exemplify excellence.
The Department of Art has chosen the following as students who embodies these qualities and so much more. Thank you for all your hard work and contributions to your department. You make a difference at UAF.
Outstanding MFA Student"I felt a lot of that here in the art department, a lot of encouragement to cross boundaries, cross media, and reach out beyond just this institution. Those pieces, I'm carrying that with me into my future. I've worked in psychology, I've worked in research, I've been a coordinator, right? So how do I take all that stuff and just apply it to whatever creative endeavors I want to do, and not lose track of that?"
Outstanding BFA Student"四虎影院 is a small town--we know this--and therefore UAF is a fairly small university, too. While some may think that's a bad thing, I think it's a good thing, because this sense of community that is built within the UAF Fine Arts Department is very strong. You end up taking classes with the same people, and you get to learn more and more about them the more classes that you take. I think that's one of the best things about earning my BFA here..."
Outstanding BA Student"I've had a really great experience with the art department. There are so many different art classes and really great studios and facilities. I've taken a ton of studio classes like sculpture and ceramics, and even when I've struggled learning with some of those new art mediums, all the teachers have been really encouraging and inspiring. It's a really great learning environment. You can tell everyone's really passionate and really dedicated to their work."
