About Upward Bound
The Upward Bound program provides intensive academic and personal support to area high school students who are income eligible and potential first-generation college students, and who demonstrate a commitment to successfully completing high school and entering and completing a program of post-secondary education.
The History of Upward Bound
Upward Bound is the oldest of a series of programs known as , was created as part of President Lyndon B. Johnson鈥檚 鈥淲ar on Poverty鈥. Specific legislation for the program was initially authorized under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 and later moved to be included under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965. This legislation which authorized the TRIO programs sought to provide educational opportunity for all Americans regardless of race, ethnic background or economic circumstance. Alaska was awarded the first Upward Bound project over 50 years ago!

UAF College of Engineering and Mines
College of Engineering and Mines (CEM) at the 四虎影院 has been
educating engineering students since 1922. The Upward Bound project is located in
CEM Duckering 349.
UAF Makerspace
The UAF Makerspace provides students a place to create and innovate within the university
system and supports student education on cutting technologies.
Rural Student Services
Rural Student Services is committed to responding to student needs by providing quality
services to Native and rural students who expend positive effort in the pursuit of
higher education and its opportunities.
Student Support Center
Student Support Services goal is to strengthen student self-efficacy, resilience and
sense of belonging during their journey to graduation.
Teaching Through Technology 鈥淭3鈥 Alaska
T3 Alaska program is an alliance of students, educators, and community partners who
are dedicated to providing students pathways to become innovative leaders in their
communities.
